Ready To Rise Above Mediocrity And Beat Complacency?

Happy New Year Everyone!  Are you ready to make the most of 2018?

If so, its time to take a stand against mediocrity and take precautions to beat complacency.  If you want to achieve more this year I have 3 tips to help you rise above mediocrity and beat complacency so you can make this your most successful year.

Over the years I’ve seen many people reach their goals.  But once their goals are met, they mistakenly believe they’ve arrived and they become complacent.  They stop doing the things that led to success.  They stop growing.  They stop learning and eventually they lose momentum… And sometimes they even lose ground…

Today I’m going to share with you 3 tips to help you rise above mediocrity, achieve your next level of success and maintain the momentum you need to beat complacency this year.

Focus on Celebrating your progress not your achievements.

It’s easy when you first get started to be eager and motivated.  But its human nature to begin to take things for granted as time goes on.  When this happens, you risk falling into the complacency trap of believing that the work you’ve put in is enough and you quit doing the things that brought you the success in the first place.

It’s a slippery slope when you believe that you’ve arrived.  To avoid this trap, it’s important to focus on celebrating your progress, the small incremental wins not the level of success you’ve achieved.  The reason for this is that there is a Huge difference in the feelings you have and the energy you feel.

When you’ve arrived, you celebrate but there’s nothing left to do.  There’s no next step.  That’s it.  To remain engaged it’s important to stay connected to the feelings that led to success to maintain momentum.  If you find that you’ve reached your goals it may be time to set new ones to take you to the next level.  When you can emotionally connect to the feelings of working toward something you can ward off complacency.

Hang around people who are a lot more successful than you and do what they do.

Hang around with people who support your vision of success.  Hang around with people who are further along on the journey than you are; they can be a wealth of information and guidance.  Hang around with people who will hold you accountable and challenge you to grow and push beyond your comfort zone.  Everything you want is waiting on the other side of your comfort zone.  Hang around with people who keep you pushing higher and higher and onto the next level every day.  Don’t settle for average… aim for the best.

Have a vision of who you want to become or what you want to achieve.

It’s useful to write this down and post it where you can see it regularly.  Having a clear vision helps keep your actions consistent; and having a clear vision opens your mind to endless possibilities.  As you are working toward your goal Having a vision helps you make decisions that are in alignment with that goal.  Having a vision helps nurture your connection with your passion and keeps you focused.

As we step into this new year, I challenge you to take a stand against mediocrity and complacency.   Make a commitment to yourself to focus on celebrating the progress you make toward your goals, make some new friends and hang out with people who are where you want to be and do what they do.  And finally, have a clear vision of who you want to become or what you want to achieve by this time next year.  I believe you have what it takes to make this your most successful year yet.
